Nixa garage floors: a big new garage deserves a finish you picked on purpose

Many newer Nixa homes have larger garages, and a bigger floor shows off the finish you choose, so we start with color.

A newer home, and a bigger garage

Nixa sits south of Springfield in Christian County, and it has grown quickly. Many newer homes here have larger garages, with room for vehicles, a workbench and more. That is a lot of floor, and it is the first thing you see when the door goes up.

A larger floor is where finish choice starts to matter. On a small garage a plain color can do the job. On a wide, open floor, a flake or metallic finish gives the whole space a look.

Choose the finish before the price

You see the full color list before we quote, so the finish is settled before the price is.

  • Flake. A speckled, textured finish that hides dirt, scuffs and tire tracks. It is the everyday workhorse for a garage that gets used.
  • Metallic. A deeper, swirled look that catches the light and gives a big floor real depth.

See the full flake and metallic options, and the products page for how the system is built. The system is picked for your slab at the estimate, and where the slab needs it, we use an MVB moisture vapor barrier base coat.

Nixa’s garages are newer, so ask about the slab

Many of Nixa’s homes are newer, so the concrete is too. A slab that was poured recently has to finish curing before any coating goes on, and trapped moisture is a common reason coatings let go. The same goes for a builder finish that has not been prepared for a coating. We check both at the in-person estimate, and our Republic page covers new-slab questions in more depth.

Tell us in the quote form when the garage was poured, and whether the builder sealed it. It helps us plan your visit.

Keep a newer garage looking new

Newer garages collect oil drips, tire marks and winter slush like any other. A coated floor keeps them on top where you can wipe them away. Winter brine from the drive into Springfield is worth keeping off bare concrete too, and our post on road salt and garage floors in Missouri explains why.

A standard residential flake floor carries a 10-year limited warranty; see the warranty page for metallic and commercial terms.

Next door: Ozark and Springfield

Nixa and Ozark are growing toward each other, and we coat floors in both. See our Ozark page if your home is on that side. Older garages in Springfield have their own prep questions, covered on our Springfield page.

FAQ

Straight answers before you book a floor coating

Can I see the color options before I get a quote?

Yes. We show you the full color list for flake and metallic finishes before we quote, so the price and the look are settled together.

Does a bigger garage floor change how the coating goes on?

A larger floor means more area to prep and more planning for the finish, and it is priced from the floor itself at the in-person estimate.

Is flake or metallic better for a garage I use as a workshop?

Flake is the practical pick for a busy floor because the speckle hides dirt and scuffs. Metallic is the statement finish. We walk through both at the estimate.
